Sinapi Aba 3 schools for going clean and green environvment in 2022 Jan Binder Award
In the annual Sinapi Aba Jan Binder Awards 2022, three schools in the Ashanti Region were recognized for their green and clean schools. The three schools nominated for the awards were Royal Choice Academy, Unique Educational Complex, and Precious Academy. The schools were selected on the basis of cleanliness from classroom to toilet, regular emptying of waste bins, and clean compounds with the greenest environments.
A certificate of citation and prize check were delivered to the headmasters or representatives of these schools at a grand function held in Konogo on November 25, 2022. Royal Choice Academy, who emerged the winner, received a check amount of GHS 20,000.00; Unique Education Complex, the 1st runner, received a check amount of GHS 13,050.00; and the 2nd runner awardee, Precious Academy, went home with a whopping GHS 7050,00.00.
Araba Mosner Ansong, the project manager, pointed out that the main objective of initiating this award is to recognize excellence in the fields of general school hygiene and green environment. She encourages schools to adopt local traditions and healthy practices for the maintenance of cleanliness and purity in their schools. She advises that more efforts should be made to help children inculcate a clean lifestyle in schools and become agents of change in their school and community at large.
The Jan Binder annual awards program is an initiative of Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans and Opportunity International Germany that seeks to acknowledge schools that adhere to a cleaner environment and prioritize the good health of schoolchildren.
Jan Binder's Bio
Jan Binder was a young man from Germany who had a strong interest in ensuring that schools in deprived communities were environmentally friendly for kids. He passed on, and to keep his memory alive, his mother, Martha Binder, cycles around Germany every year to raise funds to reward three schools that are environmentally conscious.
