YAP Graduation for 247 People - Ga North Municipality

For the second time this week, Sinapi Aba Trust has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to transforming lives, as it graduated 247 young men and women under its flagship Youth Apprenticeship Program (YAP). The ceremony, held in the Ga North Municipality, marked another milestone in the organisation’s mission to rewrite the narrative for disadvantaged youth across Ghana.

Delivering her welcome address, Mrs. Joyce Owusu-Dabo, Chief Executive Officer of Sinapi Aba Trust, reaffirmed the organisation’s dedication to youth empowerment, achieved in close collaboration with partners such as Opportunity International Canada. She described the graduation not as an endpoint, but as a launchpad. “Let this not be merely an occasion to celebrate,” she charged the graduates. “Rather, let it be a springboard that propels you to higher heights and greater achievements. You are now equipped; go forth and shape your destinies.”

The Chairman for the occasion, Hon. Akwetey Agbo, Municipal Chief Executive for Ga North, praised Sinapi Aba Trust and similar institutions for their indispensable role in national development. He underscored the strategic importance of skills training and apprenticeship schemes in driving sustainable development, noting that such initiatives directly address unemployment and equip the next generation with practical, dignified livelihoods.

In her retrospective address, the Project Manager, Mrs. Araba Mosner Ansong, highlighted the impressive trajectory of YAP since its inception. She revealed that the programme has now graduated over 5,000 young people, with nearly 1,000 currently undergoing training across various trades. “These numbers reflect lives changed, families supported, and communities strengthened,” she said. “We are not resting; we are scaling up.”

Sinapi Aba Trust remains resolute in its vision of creating an inclusive society where every individual, regardless of background, has the opportunity to contribute meaningfully. Through YAP and other strategic interventions, Sinapi Aba Trust continues to turn potential into progress—one graduate at a time.
